Matariki learning


Today we walked to Te Oro in GI - Glen innes for our work because we are learning about Matariki - Maori new year. When we got inside the huge building we could see a miniture version of Te oro. We waited to go inside the auditorium and talked about as we waited. When we got inside the auditorium  we got split into 3 groups- year 4 year 5 and year 6 my group -  Year 5 made Maori patterns - Koru - pikopiko, Niho - Teeth and Mangupare - Hammerhead shark. The other groups made clay are and made a wishing star out of flax - Harakeke, Pohutikawa is one of the 7-9 sisters. At the end of the sesion we showed what we made and the people who presented got a little prize for being brave.
