How The Coconut Came To Samoa Retold By Monique.

How The Coconut Came To Samoa.
           Retold by Monique.

Long long ago in Savaii there was a girl named Sina and an eel.
Every night they talked and swam in the moonlight.

Slowly as the eel grew he fell in love with Sina and he told her he was a prince and became
bigger and more demanding for her love and that scared her so she  escaped from the eel
through the village.

Despite the attempts to get away from him, he would follow her through the water. She became
more frightened and ran to her Uncle and cousin and told them what happend. Then the cousin
challenged the eel and severed the head of the eel. The eel told Sina to bury his head and she did.

Finally a coconut tree sprouted from the ground, the three holes were the face of the eel, the
eyes and the mouth.  Every time she drank from the coconut she was in fact kissing the eel.

That is how the coconut came to Samoa.

The End..
